Terms of Service Update

We updated the Terms of Service to keep them current with the national expansion. The Privacy Policy is unchanged: no ads, no tracking, no selling data, ever.

• Added the Climate section of the trail guides to the description of the service
• Expanded Data Sources and Attribution to credit the Copernicus Climate Change Service (ERA5) behind the Climate charts, NOAA's URMA analysis behind the forecast calibration, the USGS elevation and hydrography data and the NLCD tree canopy product behind elevation, shade, and trail artwork, and OpenStreetMap contributors for map data
• Noted that the Rail-Trail Hall of Fame is a program of the Rails to Trails Conservancy, with which RailTrailWx is not affiliated

Features and Quality of Life Updates

• Coverage expands nationwide: 180+ rail trails in 30 states, including the country's most celebrated rail trails, each with live radar and National Weather Service alerts, and more on the way
• Forecast horizon extended from 10 to 14 days for RailTrailWx Pass subscribers, across the Hourly tab, the map, and the Plan tab
• Rail-Trail Hall of Fame inductees, a designation of the Rails to Trails Conservancy, are now marked on trail pages and cards, filterable in the Trail Explorer and the Plan tab, and collected as their own roundhouse in the Logbook
• Every trail page gains a Climate section: 15 years of excellent-days history by month and activity, free for everyone
• The Entrain Weather Microclimate Engine now runs for every trail in every state, calibrating each corridor's forecast as it learns
• Long trails are served as segments, each with its own forecast, guide, and medallion: the Great Allegheny Passage, Katy Trail, George S. Mickelson Trail, Illinois Prairie Path, and Paul Bunyan State Trail join the Pennsylvania trails already split this way

Privacy Policy Update

We updated our Privacy Policy to keep it current with recent features. Nothing about how we treat your data has changed: no ads, no tracking, no selling data, ever.

• Described how a location you set in your Plan preferences is saved (in your account if signed in, on your device if not) and how to remove it
• Listed the place-search geocoder (Photon) and the map tile providers (CARTO, OpenStreetMap, OpenTopoMap, Esri) that your browser contacts when you use the maps
• Documented the Logbook, favorite trails, and saved Plan preferences as account data that is deleted with your account
• Also refreshed the Terms of Service's feature descriptions to match the current app
• Earlier in August, the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service were also updated to cover on-demand RailTrailWx Dispatch AI summaries when that feature launched

• Hour detail cards now shareable: a share button on each hour saves a high-resolution image of the comfort score odds, all 21 forecasts, and the hour's weather conditions

• Confidence filter added to the Plan tab: choose how much forecast agreement a window needs before it is shown
